WE ARE HOMESCHOOLING!!

When we decided that it was best for me not to go back to work last spring we also decided to homeschool our girls.  It has been met with mixed reactions, but we are completely happy with our decision.  Since Milana will be ready for Kindegarten this fall we will send our letter to homeschool to our school board and officially start.  Right now, we are just 'practicing' and getting the hang of it.  Here are some pictures of some of the fun things we have done.  

We celebrated "Talk Like a Pirate Day".  I had treasure maps and the girls enjoyed hunting for their treasure.  They also got to dress up like pirates and of course talk like a pirate.  Milana enjoyed saying, "Shimber me timbers!"  And Micah said "AYEEEEE, matey."

We are doing Five in a Row for our curriculum and it uses children's literature such as, 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt', 'Corduroy', and 'Jesse Bear, What Will You Wear?'.  We enjoyed our bear month with a real bear hunt, (I hid all their stuffed bear animals and they had to find them).  Here they are after finding all the bears.  We played this all afternoon one day.

Another activity was to act out the story of 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'.  We had a blast going thru the long, tall grass, SWISHY,SWASHY, thru the mud, SQUELCH,SQUIRCH, thru the forest, STUMBLE TRIP, STUMBLE TRIP, etc.  How convenient that we had plenty of mud and tall grass in our yard!
