Back to work

Michael and I have been back to work for a few weeks now, and boy, are we tired! The girls are sharing a room and we've been getting up at least once a night to give Micah a bottle. The problem is Micah isn't the sleeper Milana is. (Of course, Milana is the world's best sleeper!) We bought a little Princess toddler bed for our room so if Micah is having a bad night we can bring Milana in to finish her sleep. It's working well, and we're hoping we can eliminate the night bottle soon.

The transition is going well. Micah is generally a happy baby, but a very regimented baby. She goes to bed at 8pm and wakes about 6:30am. And her bottle and meals better be ready or she'll let you know! She is very happy when she wakes up and it is so much fun to hear her laugh at the silliest things. She was laughing so hard the other day when I would pull my hands away and leave her standing. Of course she would immediatly fall on her bottom and belly laugh.

Daycare has been a good transition, too. She will cry sometimes when I drop her off and she will ALWAYS crawl as fast as she can when I come to pick her up. It makes my day. She has been fussy at daycare, but if she can see Milana she will stop. I love the fact that having Milana around is comforting to her.

Milana is a great JiJi (big sister in Mandarin). She will give Micah a toy to "keep her occupied, Mommy" when she is crying. Sometimes if Micah cries alot Milana will put her hands over her ears, and say, "Too loud, Mommy." Milana has a keen sense of justice and wants everything to be equal. We'll see how that develops as they get older. Milana does want to be held more and for us to do more for her, like we are for Micah. We are trying to accomodate her. It won't be long and she will outgrow that. Overall, I think the transition for Milana has gone well. I think keeping them together at the home daycare has been a good decision. We are thinking and praying about what we want to do this fall for Milana. She is an amazing child and could benefit from a preschool environment, but we love our daycare providers. It will be a hard decision.

What a beautiful family - and lovely smiles too.

We got a second puppy, and the first dog is quite jealous, and wants more attention from us. I've been getting up once or twice a night to let the puppy out and to play for an hour.

I know raising dogs is only a fraction of what it's like to raise children. And I'm pooped already.
